Only a week after reciving an Editor’s Choice from the longest-serving hi-fi magazine, Aurender S10 just got to be the Computer Audiophile Product of the Year for 2011, and listed in the Cash, to add (refer to the left image). Now, that’s a good start in the world of audiophiles.
After his first meeting with us Widealab crew and the Aurender music server, Chris Connaker, the founder of Computer Audiophile, has been using our product ever since, and after 4 months of usage, he wrote what became the most in-depth review of Aurender yet. To sum up for the very few of you who don’t know the site, Computer Audiophile is one of the leading blogs in the hi-fi section with over 200,000 monthly views from audiophiles worldwide.
His long (when I say long, I mean over 4000 words long with several photos and a video) review clearly shows the sophistication and experience that had accumulated over the period of 4 months, and examines the Aurender S10 to its core, from the inner structure and its sound card to the build quality and iPad user interface.
I won’t spoil the review for you, but to summarize his points, the build structure and quality of Aurender is, as he sums it up in one word, “a gem”, except for the small but annoying HDD noise only heard in absolute silence, after selecting a song. The software, he says, is “equally as impressive as the Aurender S10′s hardware”, and goes very much in-depth to its inner workings as well as its usability. He explains the functions of the Conductor App thoroughly (this is where the video comes in), and I must say as the editor of Aurender User Guide, he did a better job at describing. The sound, or as he likes to say, “sonically”, he is very impressed. He compares Aurender to multiple sources, from Macbooks to Olives, and remarks, ”Comparing the Aurender S10 to the Olive O6HD is no contest”. He finds the sound quality between Aurender and C.A.P.S (Computer Audiophile Pocket Server, a D.I.Y music server) similar, but the build quality and user interface a no match.
His review, I would say as well as many commenters below, was honest, and ends the review with this sentence,
The fantasy of superior sound quality, incredible convenience, and beautiful aesthetics has been brought to reality by WideaLab and its Aurender S10, the Computer Audiophile Product of the Year for 2011.
A big thanks to Chris for spending his 4 months using Aurender, writing such a dedicated and comprehensive review, and finally honoring us Computer Audiophile Product of the Year 2011. Check out the review through the link below!
